PROJECT MANAGER ENGINEER

The Fountain Hills Sanitary District is looking for a Project Manager Engineer to assist with managing and administering the District’s system and facility improvement projects.  The position will administer and oversee the design and construction of projects that extend, replace, or improve the District’s collection system infrastructure, wastewater treatment plants, and reclaimed water storage wells and distribution systems.  The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, exercises sound judgment and has a knowledge of Federal, State, and local requirements affecting the planning, design, construction, and operation of a sanitary district/wastewater utility.

The hiring range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000, depending upon direct relatable experience and level of responsibility. The position is scheduled for full-time, but maybe part-time if needed by the best-suited candidate. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Arizona is required within 12 months of hire. The applicant must possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. A pre-employment drug screening and background check are required.

TREATMENT OPERATOR

Fountain Hills Sanitary District is seeking a  Grade 1 or 2 Treatment Operator or Trainee.  A Grade 1 or 2  Treatment Operator must possess and maintain a Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification from Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. A trainee must obtain a Grade 1 Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificiation from the Arizona Department of Environment Quality (ADEQ) within 12 months of hire. The ideal candidate will know or be prepared to learn Treatment Plant Operation duties to include the following:

• Operate wastewater treatment facilities under the guidance of a Lead Operator to control flow and processing of wastewater sludge and effluent; monitor gauges, meters, and control panels, observe variation in operating conditions, interpreting meter and gauge readings and test results to determine processing requirements.
• Operate valves and gates; start and stop pumps, engines and electric motors to control and adjust flow and treatment processes; monitor, adjust and troubleshoot as needed plant operational processes utilizing data-driven technology, such as the SCADA system.
• Fully utilize the computerized work system in accordance with workflow processes.
• Operate treatment plant vehicles and stationary machinery as required.

This is a District safety-sensitive position according to Arizona law and is subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening.  This position will also require the individual to wear a respirator as needed in accordance with OSHA requirements.  The applicant must possess an AZ driver’s license and have a clean driving record.

The Sanitary District offers competitive wages and benefits, including health plans, Arizona State Retirement System, paid sick leave, personal time off, and 10 paid holidays per year.  Weekend, holiday, and shift work may be required.  The pay range for this position is $22.55-$28.72/hr.
